Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Telecoms Software Developer for on-site work in Durban. You will lead a team delivering scalable telecom software, architecting systems and enforcing best practices to ensure high-quality products.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in software development with 3+ years in a lead/architect role, strong C++, Java, Python, or Go skills, and deep telecom protocol knowledge (SIP, RTP, SS7, LTE, 5G).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years in software development with 3+ years in lead/architect role.
• Proven telecom software development experience.
• Strong programming skills: C++, Java, Python, or Go.
• Deep knowledge of telecom protocols (SIP, RTP, SS7, LTE, 5G).
• Experience with microservices, containers, and CI/CD.
• Experience with cloud platforms and databases (SQL/NoSQL).
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software developers through the full SDLC.
• Architect and develop scalable, high-performance telecom software systems.
• Define requirements and technical specs with product managers.
• Enforce coding standards, reviews, and best practices.
• Resolve complex technical challenges and optimize performance.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
• Evaluate new technologies and drive modernization efforts.
• Champion CI/CD adoption and automation tooling.
