Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Lead Solar Project Developer to spearhead utility-scale solar opportunities in Rustenburg, North West. You will oversee the full lifecycle from concept to financial close, building landowner, regulator and investor relationships, and negotiating PPAs and land leases.

The role requires 8+ years in renewable energy development, deep knowledge of solar tech, project finance, and SA regulatory frameworks, plus strong leadership and travel willingness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance or related field
• Master's degree preferred
• Minimum 8 years of renewable energy project development experience, solar PV focus
• Strong knowledge of solar technology, project finance, PPAs, and SA regulatory frameworks
• Excellent negotiation, financial modelling and strategic planning skills

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop utility-scale solar sites in the North West/Rustenburg area
• Lead feasibility studies including resource assessment and grid connection
• Negotiate land leases, PPAs and project contracts
• Develop budgets, financial models and investment cases
• Coordinate with EPC partners through development lifecycle
• Navigate permitting and regulatory approvals with authorities
• Build relationships with investors, landowners and government
• Prepare project proposals for stakeholders and investors
• Monitor market trends and technology developments
