Placements24 seeks a Lead Field Installation Engineer to oversee solar PV and energy storage installations in the Cape Town area. Hybrid role blending on-site leadership with remote coordination, ensuring safety, schedules, and budgets are met.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in electrical/mechanical engineering, plus proven project management and team leadership experience in complex electromechanical deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in installation of solar PV or similar electromechanical systems.
• Proven experience leading installation teams.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes and safety standards.
• Excellent project management and budgeting skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor field installation teams with technical guidance and quality workmanship.
• Develop detailed project plans with resource allocation, scheduling, and risk assessment.
• Conduct on-site inspections and QC to meet design specs and regs.
• Manage project budgets, track expenses, and approve invoices.
• Collaborate with internal departments (sales, engineering, procurement) to ensure success.
• Enforce safety regulations and company policies on sites.
• Troubleshoot technical issues during installation.
• Prepare and submit progress reports to senior management.
• Train new team members on installation procedures and safety.
