Placements24 is sourcing a Lead Regulatory Counsel for a leading energy group in South Africa. This fully remote role offers flexible work from anywhere in SA while aligning with Durban-region regulatory needs and strategic policy development.

The ideal candidate is an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with at least 10 years' post-qualification experience, extensive energy law and regulatory affairs expertise, and a proven ability to lead complex matters and advise senior

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with 10+ years post-qualification experience.
• Extensive experience in energy law, regulatory affairs and compliance.
• Proven track record advising on complex regulatory matters.
• Strong analytical, drafting and communication skills.
• Ability to lead and manage legal projects independently.
• Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.

Responsabilités

• Lead the regulatory legal strategy ensuring compliance with national and provincial energy regulations.
• Advise on legal implications of energy policies, legislation and regulatory changes.
• Represent the company in engagements with regulatory bodies and government agencies.
• Develop and implement compliance programs and internal policies to manage regulatory risk.
• Conduct legal research and provide actionable regulatory recommendations.
• Draft and review regulatory filings, applications and submissions.
• Manage regulatory disputes and investigations with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide training on regulatory requirements to relevant business units.
• Stay informed on international best practices in energy regulation.
