Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Remote Legal Advisor specializing in Energy & Infrastructure law with at least 7 years of experience. This fully remote role supports global project development, focusing on South Africa, regulatory compliance, PPAs, EPCs, and financing agreements.

You will lead due diligence and liaise with authorities, while delivering high-quality advice from anywhere in South Africa. You will draft complex contracts, negotiate with counterparties, ensure compliance with NERSA and

Qualifications

• LLB degree from a recognized university.
• Admission as an Attorney or Advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in project finance, energy law, or infrastructure law.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex energy-related contracts.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on energy and infrastructure project development, including regulatory compliance, permitting, and land acquisition.
• Draft, review, and negotiate PPAs, EPC contracts, and financing agreements.
• Advise on project financing structures, loan agreements, and security documents.
• Conduct legal due diligence on project sites, counterparties, and regulatory environments.
• Manage relationships with external counsel, government authorities, and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with South African energy regulations, environmental laws, and international standards.
• Support dispute resolution and claims arising from projects.
• Stay updated on renewable energy regulatory developments and create standardized legal processes.
