Job summary

thyssenkrupp Uhde South Africa seeks a Senior Process Engineer to join the Process Engineering Department in Johannesburg. You will lead process design deliverables, coordinating with clients as part of an owner’s team and ensuring project quality from feasibility through commissioning.

Responsibilities include leading PFD/P&ID reviews, HAZOP and SIL assessments, 3D model critiques, and manpower planning for the process group.

Qualifications

• BSc. Chemical Engineering degree with 12–15 years of engineering experience.
• 8 years in a contracting environment on energy and chemical/refining/petrochemical projects.

Responsibilities

• Interact with the client and form part of an owner’s team.
• Perform lead engineer role on projects.
• Lead or participate in PFD and P&ID reviews, HAZOP and SIL reviews.
• Participate in 3D model and constructability reviews.
• Plan manpower and manage project schedules for the process team.
• Prepare Scope of Work/Works Information for services and manage consultants.
• Develop design basis, PFDs, mass and energy balances, utility balances.
• Develop piping and instrument diagrams, mechanical and utility flow diagrams.
• Develop process equipment data sheets and process philosophies.
• Develop operating, safety and commissioning manuals.
