Job summary

thyssenkrupp Uhde South Africa is seeking a Lead Engineer to join a client-facing project team in the energy and chemical sectors. The role spans feasibility to commissioning and requires delivering process engineering outputs with rigorous technical quality.

You will lead or participate in PFD and P&ID reviews, HAZOP and SIL studies, 3D model checks and the management of consultants to meet scope, schedule and budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with substantial experience in process design.
• Experience leading engineering deliverables and teams across multiple project phases.
• ECSA professional registration is required for lead engineer level.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineer role on client-facing projects in energy and chemical sectors.
• Lead or participate in PFD and P&ID reviews, HAZOP and SIL studies.
• Participate in 3D model reviews, constructability reviews, and drawings.
• Develop scope of work and manage consultants to deliver on schedule and quality.
• Prepare process baselines, process philosophies, and equipment data sheets.
• Produce process equipment lists, utility balances, and related documentation.
• Support commissioning and plant start-up activities.
