Placements24 seeks a Lead Automotive Powertrain Engineer in Cape Town, SA, a hybrid role combining in-office collaboration with remote flexibility. You will guide a team of engineers to advance EV/HEV and ICE powertrains, driving efficiency, performance, and sustainability across next-generation vehicles.

The role requires a strong background in powertrain design, analysis and validation, plus leadership experience and proficiency in GT-SUITE, MATLAB/Simulink and CAD tools.

Formación

• Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering.
• 10+ years in automotive powertrain development.
• Leadership or supervisory experience (≥3 years).
• Experience with EV/ICE tech and powertrain simulations.

Responsabilidades

• Lead design, development, and optimization of powertrain systems (electric, hybrid, ICE).
• Direct and manage a team of powertrain engineers with mentorship and feedback.
• Develop and execute testing and validation plans for powertrain components.
• Conduct CFD/FEA simulations to evaluate performance and durability.
• Collaborate with supply chain and manufacturing for cost-effective designs.
• Stay updated on emerging powertrain technologies and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for senior management.
• Troubleshoot complex powertrain issues and guide product roadmaps.
