Job summary
Placements24 in South Africa seeks an Automotive Powertrain Engineer to join our client's team in Klerksdorp. You will design, test, and optimize powertrain systems including engines, transmissions, and EV drivetrains, ensuring performance, efficiency, and emissions targets.
The role requires at least 6 years in powertrain development, strong analytical skills, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive automotive powertrain experience.
- Strong knowledge of internal combustion engines, transmissions, and/or EV powertrains.
- Experience with powertrain simulation tools (GT-Power, MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS).
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test powertrain components and systems to meet performance targets.
- Conduct CFD/FEA simulations to optimize powertrain performance and durability.
- Develop and execute test plans for powertrain components and vehicles.
- Analyze test data and provide design improvement recommendations.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Work with manufacturing to integrate powertrains into production vehicles.
- Stay updated on electrification and alternative fuels.
- Troubleshoot powertrain issues during development and testing.
