Sandton-based energy/engineering firm is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer specializing in Power Systems. You will lead design teams on substations, transmission and distribution projects, ensuring compliance with IEC/SANS and industry standards.

The role requires extensive experience, leadership, and collaboration with stakeholders to deliver advanced power solutions for Gauteng's energy infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with power systems specialization.
• 8+ years in design and engineering of electrical power systems.
• Experience with power system analysis software (PSS/E, ETAP, DIgSILENT).
• Strong protection and control systems knowledge for substations.
• Proven leadership and project management capabilities.

Responsabilités

• Lead electrical design for power system projects, including substations and transmission/distribution networks.
• Perform detailed power system studies (load flow, short circuit, stability).
• Specify and select high-voltage equipment (transformers, switchgear, breakers, relays).
• Develop electrical design packages (single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts, specifications).
• Oversee design process ensuring IEC/SANS compliance and safety.
• Mentor and guide a team of engineers and designers.
• Liaise with clients, regulators, and other disciplines to meet requirements.
• Conduct design reviews and risk assessments.
• Assist in commissioning and testing phases.
• Stay updated on new technologies in power system design.
