Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in power systems engineering, preferably in renewable energy.
• Strong knowledge of grid interconnection requirements and SA grid codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, analysis, and implementation of utility-scale power systems for renewable projects.
• Develop grid interconnection studies, load flow, short-circuit, and transient stability analyses.
• Ensure compliance with national and international grid codes and standards.
• Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to achieve milestones.

Key Responsibilities

• Spearhead the design, analysis, and implementation of utility-scale power systems for renewable energy projects.
• Develop detailed grid interconnection studies, load flow analysis, short circuit calculations, and transient stability simulations.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international grid codes, standards, and regulations.
• Collaborate closely with project development teams, civil and electrical engineers, and external stakeholders to achieve project milestones.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
• Evaluate and select appropriate electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, inverters, and energy storage systems.
• Contribute to the development of innovative solutions for grid integration challenges and power quality issues.
• Oversee the technical aspects of procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, ensuring designs are executed as intended.
• Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and project updates to management and clients.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in power systems engineering, preferably within the renewable energy industry.
• Expertise in power system simulation software such as PSS/E, PowerFactory DIgSILENT, PSCAD, or similar.
• Strong understanding of grid interconnection requirements and challenges for solar, wind, and battery storage systems.
• Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
• Excellent knowledge of South African grid codes and regulations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing remote work with necessary on-site collaboration.
