The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical or mechanical engineering, 7+ years in renewables, proficiency with PVSyst/Homer and CAD, and knowledge of South African energy

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement complex renewable energy systems, including solar photovoltaic (PV), wind turbines, and energy storage solutions.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and technical evaluations for new renewable energy projects in various locations.
• Perform system modeling, simulation, and performance analysis to optimize energy generation and efficiency.
• Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for engineering tasks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, procurement, and construction personnel, to ensure successful project execution.
• Ensure all designs and installations comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during the installation, commissioning, and operational phases of energy systems.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, proposals, and presentations for stakeholders and management.
• Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements and market trends in the renewable energy sector.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• A Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in renewable energy systems engineering, with a strong focus on solar PV, wind, and battery storage.
• Proven experience in system design, simulation (e.g., PVSyst, Homer), and performance analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of grid-tied and off-grid energy systems.
• Familiarity with relevant South African energy regulations and standards.
• Proficiency in CAD software for system layout and design.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Project management experience is highly desirable.
