Placements24 in Cape Town is seeking a skilled Mine Planning Engineer to develop short-term and long-term mine plans for open-pit projects. You will work with production, geology, and survey teams to implement efficient mining strategies that optimize resource extraction while ensuring safety and environmental compliance.

You will design production schedules, optimize designs for safety and cost-effectiveness, and contribute to feasibility studies for new mining areas.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of open-pit mine planning experience.
  • Proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute short-term and medium-term mine plans, including stope design, ore control, and waste rock management.
  • Create detailed production schedules and monitor progress against planned targets.
  • Optimize mine designs for efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness using specialized mining software.

About the Role

You will work closely with production, geology, and survey teams to implement efficient mining strategies. This position is ideal for an engineer who possesses strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of open-pit mining operations, contributing to the successful and sustainable development of valuable mineral resources in the Western Cape region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute short-term and medium-term mine plans, including stope design , ore control , and waste rock management.
  • Create detailed production schedules and monitor progress against planned targets.
  • Optimize mine designs for efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness using specialized mining software.
