Placements24 is seeking a Lead Maintenance Engineer for a mining client in East London, Eastern Cape. You will lead a team of technicians and supervisors, ensuring asset reliability and maximum uptime through strategic maintenance planning.

You will leverage CMMS systems such as SAP PM and Maximo, implement preventive maintenance, and manage budgets while ensuring safety compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or master level degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Minimum 7 years in maintenance engineering with 3+ years in supervision.
• Extensive knowledge of heavy mining equipment and CMMS usage (SAP PM, Maximo).
• Strong leadership, communication, and budget-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor maintenance team of technicians, supervisors, and planners.
• Develop and oversee planned maintenance programs for mining equipment.
• Minimise downtime through effective corrective maintenance.
• Oversee CMMS work orders, asset tracking, and reporting.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes.
• Control maintenance budget and collaborate with operations.
