Placements24 is seeking a Lead Sound Designer in Centurion, Gauteng to shape soundscapes for interactive installations and large-scale theatre productions. You will mentor junior designers and collaborate with creative directors to translate artistic visions into immersive auditory experiences.

The role demands a deep understanding of sonic aesthetics, advanced audio engineering, and a portfolio of high-quality work across live events, film, and gaming.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Sound Design, Audio Engineering, Music Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 7+ years of professional sound design experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• A portfolio of diverse high-quality sound design work is mandatory.
• Experience in live events, film, gaming, or interactive installations.
• Strong understanding of acoustics, signal processing, and audio mixing techniques.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization and execution of sound design for various projects, ensuring artistic integrity and technical excellence.
• Lead and mentor a team of sound designers, providing guidance on creative direction, technical application, and project management.
• Collaborate with directors, composers, and other creatives to develop cohesive and compelling sonic environments.
• Record, edit, and mix audio elements, including Foley, dialogue, music, and sound effects.
• Implement sound designs within platforms and technologies, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
• Conduct field recordings and manage audio libraries.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in sound design and audio production.
• Manage project timelines and budgets related to sound design deliverables.
