About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly skilled and visionary Lead Geologist to spearhead exploration initiatives within the diverse geological settings of the Northern Cape . This pivotal role, based in our Kimberley office, involves leading geological teams, interpreting complex subsurface data, and identifying high-potential exploration targets. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the future exploration strategy, leveraging advanced geological modeling techniques and extensive field experience. Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor geological exploration teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Develop and execute comprehensive exploration strategies and work programs. Interpret and integrate geological, geophysical, and geochemical data to identify and assess potential hydrocarbon or mineral deposits. Create and refine detailed geological models and basin analyses. Plan and supervise geological fieldwork, including core logging, mapping, and sampling. Evaluate exploration risk and economic potential of identified targets. Prepare high-quality technical reports, maps, and presentations for senior management and joint venture partners. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Contribute to the continuous improvement of geological methodologies and technologies.

Requirements

MSc or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in oil and gas or mineral exploration geology. Demonstrated leadership experience managing geological teams and projects. Expertise in subsurface mapping, stratigraphic analysis, and structural geology. Proficiency with geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite, Leapfrog). Strong understanding of geophysical data interpretation (seismic, gravity, magnetics). Proven track record of successful exploration target identification and definition. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Experience working in the geological settings relevant to the Northern Cape is highly desirable. Valid work permit for South Africa .
