Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geologist (Resource Estimation) in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. The role leads geological assessment and modeling of mineral deposits, integrating data and producing reliable resource models for strategic mining decisions.

The candidate should have 10+ years of mineral exploration and resource estimation experience, strong modeling skills, and proven leadership within a geoscience team. On-site role with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of relevant mineral exploration and resource estimation experience.
• Proven expertise in geological modeling and geostatistical analysis.
• Strong data validation and QA/QC capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage geological models using Leapfrog, Vulcan, and Datamine.
• Perform geological mapping, structural analysis, and core logging for resource estimation.
• Collect, validate, and interpret assay results, density data and geophysics.
• Apply geostatistical methods to estimate resources and reserves per industry standards (JORC, NI 43-101).
• Prepare technical reports, presentations and summaries for stakeholders and regulators.
• Collaborate with mining engineers to optimize resource utilization and mine planning.
• Mentor junior geologists and ensure health, safety and environmental compliance.
