Job summary

TsAfrika is seeking a passionate Functions Chef to plan, coordinate, and execute food preparation for corporate events and functions in Durban. Lead menu planning, ensure top-quality meals, and uphold hygiene and safety standards while delivering exceptional service for discerning clients.

The role requires strong culinary expertise, creativity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, coordinating with operations teams and clients to exceed expectations.

Qualifications

• Minimum culinary qualification required and experience in catering or events.
• Knowledge of HACCP and kitchen best practices required.
• Driver's license advantageous but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare menus for functions and events in line with client requirements.
• Produce high-quality food presentation and ensure consistency across all events.
• Manage all food preparation and production activities for functions and events.
• Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation standards.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene, and health and safety compliance.
• Assist with stock control, ordering, receiving, and storage of food products.
• Minimise wastage and manage food costs effectively.
• Work closely with operational teams to ensure successful event execution.
• Support and guide kitchen staff during function preparation and service.
• Build positive relationships with clients and respond professionally to requests and feedback.
