Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Electrical Systems Engineer for a fully remote role supporting defence technology initiatives. You will lead design, development and integration of complex electrical systems for advanced defence platforms, ensuring performance, reliability and security.

You will collaborate with engineers across software, mechanical and systems disciplines, mentor a team of electrical engineers, and help set requirements, verification plans and documentation for state-of-the-art

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in electrical systems engineering, with defence sector focus.
• Proven leadership of complex engineering projects and technical teams.
• Deep knowledge of power electronics, DSP, RF and embedded systems.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and SPICE for modeling and verification.
• Familiarity with DO-254, MIL-STD safety/quality standards.
• Ability to obtain security clearance and work in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design and development of complex electrical and electronic systems for defence applications.
• Oversee the specification, selection, and integration of electro-mechanical, power, and signal processing components.
• Define system requirements, performance metrics, and verification plans.
• Manage the full lifecycle of electrical systems, from concept through to testing, integration, and deployment.
• Conduct rigorous trade studies and technical analyses to optimize system design and performance.
• Ensure compliance with stringent defence industry standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor and provide technical leadership to a team of electrical engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including software, mechanical, and systems engineers.
• Develop and review technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and reports.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to defence systems engineering.
