Job summary

Fluor Corp. is seeking an experienced EC&I Engineer to lead electrical, control, and instrumentation engineering on mining, minerals processing, and infrastructure projects. The role is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and reports into a multidisciplinary team of engineers.

You will drive design deliverables, coordinate with other disciplines, and ensure regulatory and client compliance. Ten-plus years in EC&I with mining/EPCM exposure, and professional registration are strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• PR Eng/ECSA registration preferred.
• 10+ years' experience in electrical, control, and instrumentation engineering.
• Significant mining/minerals processing/EPCM or heavy industrial project experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Knowledge of IEC, SANS, IEEE, and relevant international standards.
• Experience with MV/LV power distribution, PLC/SCADA, instrumentation, and process control.

Responsibilities

• Lead the EC&I engineering discipline on EPCM/EPCM mining and processing projects.
• Develop and review electrical, control, and instrumentation design deliverables.
• Manage discipline engineering teams and coordinate activities with other engineering disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with project, client, industry, and statutory requirements.
• Review and approve single-line diagrams, load lists, motor lists, control philosophies, instrument indexes, cable schedules, and technical specifications.
• Support procurement by evaluating vendor bids and reviewing supplier documentation.
• Provide technical oversight during construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocations for the EC&I discipline.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
