Job summary

Network Finance seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer to coordinate the electrical design across mining and mineral processing projects in Cape Town, collaborating with international teams across Africa and beyond.

You will provide technical leadership through studies, concept development, detailed design, and execution, with a strong emphasis on EI&C, LV systems, and LV MCC design.

Qualifications

• BEng/BSc Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• ECSA registration or eligibility for registration advantageous.
• Proven experience leading electrical engineering teams on complex mining or industrial projects.
• Strong understanding of E&I principles relating to large industrial facilities.
• Extensive experience on both greenfield and brownfield developments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate electrical engineering design activities across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Deliver electrical designs for large-scale mineral processing and mining projects.
• Provide technical leadership throughout study, design, execution, and commissioning phases.
• Undertake LV system design, protection, and coordination studies.
• Review technical deliverables and ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Provide specialist technical support and guidance to clients and project stakeholders.
• Collaborate with local and international engineering teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
• Assist with project planning, scheduling, and resource coordination.
• Contribute to engineering studies, technical reports, and design reviews.

Job & Company Description:

As a Lead Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in coordinating and driving the electrical design function across complex mining and mineral processing projects. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from studies and concept development through to detailed design and execution. The successful candidate will join an established design team in Cape Town while also collaborating with international engineering teams on projects across Africa and beyond. This role is ideally suited to a candidate with strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and extensive experience delivering electrical engineering solutions in mining and industrial environments.

Education:

• BEng/BSc Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
• ECSA registration or eligibility for registration advantageous

Job Experience & Skills Required:

• Proven experience leading and coordinating electrical engineering teams on complex mining or industrial projects
• Strong understanding of Electrical, Instrumentation & Control (E, I&C) principles relating to large industrial facilities
• Extensive experience on both greenfield and brownfield developments
• LV design experience including:
  • PowerCAD
  • LV MCC Design
  • Protection Studies
  • Coordination Studies
• Demonstrated experience delivering major projects throughout the full design lifecycle
• Experience working on projects within Africa's mining and mineral processing sectors
• Sound understanding of project development processes for junior and mid-tier mining companies
• Ability to provide specialist technical advice and guidance to clients
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Ability to influence discussions, contribute effectively during meetings, and foster collaborative project environments
