Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Cloud Solutions Architect for a fast-paced technology consulting environment. This fully remote role supports clients from anywhere, with base awareness of Klerksdorp, North West region.

Lead cloud strategy, design scalable and secure solutions, and guide cross-functional teams across major cloud platforms. You will drive architecture standards, governance, and best practices while translating complex business needs into robust technical designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years in IT architecture, with at least 5 years focused on cloud solutions.
• Proven experience designing on AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Deep understanding of cloud concepts, services, security, networking, storage, compute, databases.

About the Role

Our client, a fast-paced technology consulting firm, is looking for a visionary Lead Cloud Solutions Architect to spearhead their cloud strategy initiatives. This exciting role is based in Klerksdorp, North West , but offers the flexibility of full remote work, allowing you to contribute from anywhere. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions for a diverse range of clients. This position requires a deep understanding of cloud computing principles, extensive experience with major cloud providers, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into robust technical architectures. You will lead technical teams, provide architectural guidance, and ensure the successful delivery of cloud projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect comprehensive cloud solutions (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) across major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Lead the development of cloud adoption strategies and roadmaps for clients.
• Define technical standards, best practices, and governance frameworks for cloud environments.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business and technical requirements and translate them into effective cloud architectures.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to development and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-optimized.
• Evaluate and recommend cloud services, tools, and technologies.
• Develop proof-of-concepts and prototypes to demonstrate the viability of proposed solutions.
• Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and industry trends.
• Present architectural designs and solutions to clients and internal teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in IT architecture, with at least 5 years focused specifically on cloud solutions.
• Proven experience designing and implementing complex solutions on AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts, services, and best practices (e.g., networking, security, storage, compute, databases).
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless computing.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates).
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and influence decision-making.
• Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly desirable.
• Experience in the mining or resources sector is a plus.
