Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Lead Cloud Solutions Architect to drive cloud strategy and implementation. This fully remote role targets South Africa, focusing on scalable, secure cloud architectures across AWS and Azure with strong cross-team collaboration.

You will lead architecture, timelines, and mentoring of cloud engineers while aligning with business goals and cost efficiency. Mastery of IaC, containers, and security is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 8+ years IT infrastructure & cloud computing experience; 3+ years as Solutions Architect.
• Proven design/implementation experience on AWS and/or Azure at scale.
• Knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM) or Azure equivalents.
• Strong containerization understanding (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Scripting ability in Python or Bash.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; able to work remotely.

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly experienced and visionary Lead Cloud Solutions Architect to spearhead their cloud strategy and implementation efforts. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing the execution of scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud architectures across various platforms. This pivotal role requires a deep understanding of cloud-native technologies, best practices, and a proven ability to lead technical teams. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to ensure cloud solutions align with organizational goals and deliver maximum business value. Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement enterprise-level cloud solutions, primarily on AWS and/or Azure.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT infrastructure and cloud computing, with at least 3 years in a dedicated Solutions Architect role.
• Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale solutions on AWS and/or Azure.
• In-depth knowledge of cloud services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM (AWS), or Virtual Machines, Blob Storage, Azure Functions, VNet, Azure AD (Azure).
• Strong understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Expertise in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
• Excellent understanding of networking, security, and data management principles in a cloud context.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
• Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly desirable.
