Placements24 in Queenstown (Eastern Cape) seeks an experienced Lead Civil Engineer to oversee major infrastructure development including roads, water supply and sanitation systems. You will lead design teams, manage project delivery, and ensure quality and regulatory compliance across all project phases. The role requires 8+ years in civil infrastructure with at least 3 years in a lead role, and registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng.

or Pr. Tech. Eng.).

Qualifications

• 8+ years progressive experience in civil infrastructure engineering, with at least 3 years in lead/supervisory role.
• Proven experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects from concept to completion.
• Strong knowledge of SANS and South African legislation.
• Experience with municipal or government clients.

Responsabilités

• Lead the design, planning, and implementation of civil infrastructure projects (roads, water, sanitation, stormwater).
• Manage project teams, including engineers, technicians, and site staff.
• Oversee the preparation of engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Ensure projects comply with relevant engineering standards, codes of practice, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and impact assessments.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.
• Liaise with clients, government authorities, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
• Monitor construction progress and ensure quality control and assurance.
• Contribute to business development and tender preparation efforts.
