Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Civil Engineer in Gauteng to direct design and delivery of major infrastructure projects. You will lead engineers and technicians, ensure regulatory and environmental compliance, and mentor junior staff in a hybrid office/field setting.

The role requires a Master’s in Civil Engineering, 10+ years of experience with 3 years in leadership, and Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA, along with strong collaboration and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of civil engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a lead/supervisory role.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Proven expertise in structural analysis, geotechnical engineering, and infrastructure design software.
• Excellent project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and planning of civil engineering projects, including roads, bridges, water systems, and site development.
• Oversee the preparation of technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and impact assessments.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
