Placements24 in East London is seeking a proactive Chemical Project Engineer to manage capital projects from concept through to completion, ensuring on-time delivery, budget control and strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

You will coordinate with internal teams, external contractors and suppliers, lead design, procurement, construction and commissioning, and drive project reviews with stakeholders to meet expansion and modernization goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in project engineering or project management within the chemical/process industries.
• Experience managing capital projects from concept to completion.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools (e.g., MS Project).
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills in East London.

Responsibilities

• Manage the entire lifecycle of capital projects, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules, and track progress against these parameters.
• Coordinate and supervise work performed by internal engineering teams, contractors, and vendors.
• Ensure all projects comply with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct site inspections and project reviews to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
• Prepare project status reports and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
