Job summary

Placements24, Port Elizabeth based, seeks a Project Chemical Engineer to drive capital projects from conception through commissioning. The role covers design, procurement support, and technical oversight to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery meeting safety and quality standards.

You will collaborate with engineers, vendors, and contractors in a hybrid work setting, with opportunities to lead multi-discipline teams and advance project management skills within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
• 3–6 years of experience in project engineering or project management within chemical industry.
• Familiarity with project lifecycle stages and documentation.
• Understanding of P&IDs, equipment specifications and construction drawings.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a project setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering designs, specifications, and P&IDs for chemical plant projects.
• Assist in developing project scopes, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Provide technical support during procurement and fabrication phases.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of new equipment and process changes.
• Ensure designs comply with engineering codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and vendors for project success.
