Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Chemical Production Supervisor to manage daily operations at our Vereeniging facility. You will lead a team of production operators, optimize processes, and ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across all shifts.

The role requires a strong background in chemical manufacturing, hands-on leadership, and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives while coordinating with maintenance and quality teams on batch records, yield and waste

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical production or operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
• Proven ability to manage and motivate a production team.
• Strong understanding of chemical processes, unit operations, and safety procedures.
• Knowledge of quality control systems and environmental regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency in using production management software and MS Office.
• Experience with HAZOP analysis or process safety management is a plus.
• Flexibility to work shifts as required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the production team to meet output targets.
• Ensure all production activities are conducted safely, adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor production processes, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Manage shift schedules, workforce planning, and allocate resources effectively.
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of production equipment, coordinating with the maintenance department.
• Ensure compliance with environmental standards and waste management protocols.
• Train and develop production operators, providing guidance and performance feedback.
• Maintain accurate production records, including batch logs, yield data, and quality control reports.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
• Ensure proper inventory management of raw materials and finished goods on the production floor.
