Qualifications

This senior position is critical for spearheading the conceptualization, design, and implementation of novel chemical processing units and modifications. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptual and detailed design of chemical processes and equipment.
• Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP studies.
• Perform mass and energy balance calculations for complex chemical systems.
• Select appropriate process equipment and technologies based on project requirements.
• Oversee and mentor a team of process engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Collaborate closely with project management, operations, and safety departments.
• Evaluate and integrate new technologies to enhance process efficiency and sustainability.
• Ensure designs comply with industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Support commissioning and start-up activities for new or modified processes.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in chemical process design and engineering.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering design projects in the petrochemical or chemical industry.
• Expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II).
• In-depth knowledge of industry standards (e.g., API, ASME) and safety regulations.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with P&ID development and review.
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop robust solutions.
• Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa.
