Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Process Engineer for a client in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. You will lead the design, development and optimization of chemical processes and equipment, and mentor junior engineers in a large-scale petrochemical setting.

Responsibilities include process simulations, troubleshooting, safety/compliance, and cross-functional collaboration with R&D, operations and maintenance to implement new technologies and deliver robust production.

Competenze

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive process engineering experience in petrochemical/chemical manufacturing.
• Leadership experience including mentoring junior engineers.
• Strong knowledge of process design, simulation, and scale-up.

About the Role

Our client, a globally recognized leader in the petrochemical industry, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead Process Engineer to join their team in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal . This role is critical for optimizing and troubleshooting complex industrial processes, ensuring efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of process design, simulation, and scale-up within a large-scale manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for leading process improvement projects, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of chemical processes and equipment.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in process engineering within the petrochemical or chemical manufacturing industry.
• Proven experience in process design, simulation (e.g., Aspen Plus), and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and mass transfer principles.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring junior engineers.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in relevant process safety management (PSM) principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information effectively.
• Experience with project management methodologies.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration is highly desirable.
