• Pr.Eng registration with ECSA preferred or eligible.
• 7+ years of progressive building services design and project management.
• Proficient in Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP and Navisworks.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, lighting and plumbing systems.
• Familiar with SANS codes and energy efficiency standards.

Responsabilidades

About the Role

Our client is actively searching for a dynamic and experienced Lead Building Services Engineer to join their growing team. This role offers a hybrid work model, combining remote flexibility with essential office-based collaboration. You will be instrumental in leading the design, development, and implementation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for a variety of complex building projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent leadership qualities, and a proven ability to manage projects from concept through to completion. Your expertise will ensure that our building projects meet the highest standards of efficiency, sustainability, and occupant comfort. This is a key role that requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to driving innovation in building services engineering. The position is based in Bloemfontein, Free State, ZA .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and coordination of MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, for commercial, residential, and industrial buildings.
• Develop detailed MEP design drawings, specifications, and schedules using industry-standard software.
• Ensure that all designs comply with relevant building codes, SANS standards, and energy efficiency regulations.
• Collaborate effectively with architects, structural engineers, and other project stakeholders to integrate MEP systems seamlessly.
• Manage project timelines and budgets for MEP scopes of work, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during the construction phase to resolve design issues and ensure quality installation.
• Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians within the building services team.
• Stay abreast of new technologies, materials, and design approaches in building services engineering.
• Contribute to the development of sustainable design strategies and energy efficiency solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration with ECSA or eligibility is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in building services (MEP) design and project management.
• Proficiency in MEP design software such as Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, and Navisworks.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, lighting, and plumbing systems.
• Familiarity with SANS codes, energy efficiency standards, and green building practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills for effective team and stakeholder management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a hybrid work environment.
• Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
• Must be able to attend the office in Bloemfontein for collaborative meetings and project coordination.
