About the Role

Our client, a renowned architectural practice specializing in large-scale commercial and mixed-use developments, is seeking an experienced Lead BIM Architect to join their thriving office in Tembisa, Gauteng. This is a senior position where you will spearhead the implementation and management of Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows across all project phases. You will play a crucial role in enhancing design coordination, improving project efficiency, and ensuring the highest standards of technical delivery. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of BIM technologies and their application in modern architectural practice, coupled with strong leadership capabilities to guide a dedicated BIM team. This role is essential for maintaining our client's position at the forefront of technological innovation in architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive BIM strategies and standards for the practice.
• Lead and manage a team of BIM specialists and technicians, providing technical direction and mentorship.
• Oversee the creation, management, and coordination of BIM models for complex commercial projects.
• Ensure seamless integration of BIM models with other project disciplines, such as structural and MEP engineering.
• Conduct regular model audits and clash detection analysis to identify and resolve design conflicts early.
• Develop and maintain BIM content libraries and templates.
• Train and support architectural staff on BIM software and best practices.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in BIM technology and recommend strategic adoption.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 10 years of post-graduate experience in architecture, with at least 5 years specifically focused on BIM implementation and management.
• Expert proficiency in BIM software, including Revit Architecture, Navisworks, and Solibri Model Checker.
• Strong understanding of architectural design principles and construction processes.
• Proven experience in leading BIM teams and managing BIM workflows on large-scale projects.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to train and motivate others.
• Knowledge of various BIM standards and protocols (e.g., ISO 19650).
• SACAP registration as an Architect or Architectural Technologist is advantageous.
