Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Automotive Systems Engineer in Sandton to spearhead the design and development of advanced automotive systems. You will guide a team, manage complex projects, and ensure seamless integration of powertrain, chassis, and ADAS within safety standards.

The role requires a strong background in vehicle architectures, control systems, and automotive communication protocols, with leadership and risk management to meet milestones and budgets.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in automotive systems engineering and leading complex projects.
• In-depth knowledge of vehicle architectures, control systems, and automotive communication protocols (CAN, FlexRay, Ethernet).
• Experience with systems engineering tools (DOORS, MATLAB/Simulink) and methodologies.
• Strong leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with automotive safety standards (ISO 26262) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and integration of complex automotive systems, including powertrain, chassis, and ADAS.
• Oversee system architecture definition, requirement management, and interface control.
• Manage and mentor a team of systems engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Define and execute system validation and verification plans, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, testing) throughout the product lifecycle.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring project milestones are met on time and within budget.
