Placements24 is seeking a Lead Industrial Engineer for a Pretoria-based industrial group. Lead automation initiatives, design and optimize automated systems to improve throughput, precision, and safety.

Requires robotics, PLCs, SCADA, and Industry 4.0 experience; you will lead engineers and technicians from concept to deployment. Collaborate with engineering, operations and IT; manage projects, budgets, and timelines; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or closely related field.
• 7+ years experience in industrial engineering with at least 3 years in a lead role focused on automation.
• Proven track record with robotic programming, PLC logic, and SCADA systems.
• Strong understanding of Industry 4.0, IIoT, and data analytics for manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and implementation of automation solutions for manufacturing processes.
• Evaluate and select automation technologies including robotics, PLCs, and HMI systems.
• Develop project plans, manage budgets and oversee timelines for automation projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define automation requirements and integration strategies.
• Analyze production data to identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction through automation.
• Ensure automation systems comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to automated systems.
• Stay current with advancements in automation, AI, and smart manufacturing technologies.
• Develop and deliver training programs for operational staff on new systems.
