Placements24 is recruiting a Lead Architect for a premier architectural practice in George, Western Cape. You will drive sustainable design, lead a high-caliber team, and steer complex projects from concept through construction with energy-efficient solutions.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Architecture, SAIA accreditation, and 10+ years in leadership roles within sustainable design. Proficiency in BIM tools and knowledge of SA regulations are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Architecture or equivalent.
• 10+ years of professional architectural experience with a strong focus on sustainable design and project leadership.
• Professional accreditation with SAIA or equivalent body.
• Experience leading complex architectural projects from inception to completion.
• Expertise in sustainable design principles and certifications (LEED AP, Green Star an Accredited Professional preferred).
• Proficiency in advanced architectural design and BIM software (Revit, ArchiCAD, AutoCAD).
• Strong knowledge of South African building regulations and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design process with emphasis on sustainable and green building practices.
• Manage project teams, ensuring design quality, technical accuracy, and adherence to schedules/budgets.
• Develop innovative design concepts integrating renewable energy, water conservation, and sustainable materials.
• Collaborate with clients, engineers, sustainability consultants, and contractors to achieve goals.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, and documentation for approvals and construction.
• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for new developments.
• Mentor and develop junior architects and designers, promoting innovation and sustainability.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international green building certifications (e.g., LEED, Green Star SA).
• Present design proposals and project progress to stakeholders and review boards.
• Stay current with advancements in sustainable architecture, materials, and construction technologies.
