Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Lead AI Software Engineer to drive AI software development and cloud integration in Sandton. You will lead a team of engineers, architect scalable AI services, and collaborate with data scientists to deploy models into production.

The role requires a strong software engineering background, deep cloud expertise (AWS/Azure/GCP), and hands-on AI/ML framework experience. Excellent leadership and strategic thinking are essential.

Qualifications

• - Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• - 7+ years in software engineering with at least 3 years in AI/ML.
• - Extensive experience with AWS/Azure/GCP and their AI services.
• - Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++.
• - Strong knowledge of TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn.
• - Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
• - Designing and building scalable distributed systems.
• - Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and implementation of AI software with cloud integration.
• Architect scalable AI services on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Mentor and guide AI software engineers; perform code reviews.
• Collaborate with data scientists to deploy models to production.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code for AI/ML workloads in the cloud.
• Implement MLOps best practices for CI/CD and monitoring.
• Optimize AI software performance and cloud cost efficiency.
• Troubleshoot complex AI and cloud infra issues.
• Contribute to the technical roadmap and strategy.
