Job summary

Alfred H Knight in Gqeberha is seeking a Team Leader to supervise the sample preparation on shift, train staff, and ensure client requirements and safety policies are followed. You will coordinate workflow, maintain production levels, and support continuous improvement in a minerals laboratory environment.

The role requires leadership experience, 3+ years in a minerals lab or sample prep, and proficiency in Excel/Word, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science.
• Minimum 3 years' work experience in a commercial minerals lab or minerals sample preparation.
• Microsoft Excel and Word experience.
• Proven leadership abilities, leading teams greater than 5 people.
• Experience performing all related sample prep procedures with understanding of the methodology.

Responsibilities

• Schedule workflow through the department to meet client deadlines.
• Supervise the sample preparation on shift to ensure smooth operations.
• Train and develop the Sample Preparers on shift.
• Maintain shift production levels and ensure turnaround times.
• Ensure client instructions are followed and safety policies are observed.
• Coordinate maintenance and inventory to meet production goals.
• Keep records and notebooks up to date and manage logs.
• Assist with ad hoc projects as required.
