James Chase in Cape Town is seeking a Mobile Engineer to work on a globally used mobile platform. You’ll design and build features using Kotlin and Kotlin Multiplatform, sharing code across Android and iOS while delivering high-quality native experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience building production mobile apps.
• Strong knowledge of modern mobile architecture.
• Experience integrating applications with APIs and backend services.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and automated testing.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Collaborative product and engineering teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing new mobile features using Kotlin and Kotlin Multiplatform
• Building shared functionality across Android and iOS
• Developing platform-specific functionality where appropriate
• Integrating mobile applications with APIs, services and third-party platforms
• Writing clean, maintainable and testable code
• Contributing to code reviews and engineering standards
• Troubleshooting production issues and improving application performance
• Contributing to automated testing, CI/CD and mobile release processes
• Helping simplify existing solutions and reduce technical debt
• Take technical ownership of complex mobile features
• Influence mobile architecture and technical direction
• Help establish and improve engineering standards
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers
• Identify technical risks and help make pragmatic engineering decisions
