James Chase in Cape Town is seeking a Mobile Engineer to work on a globally used mobile platform. You’ll design and build features using Kotlin and Kotlin Multiplatform, sharing code across Android and iOS while delivering high-quality native experiences.
The role offers opportunities to influence mobile architecture, own complex features, and contribute to automated testing, CI/CD and release processes within a growing digital & technology team.
Are you an experienced Mobile Engineer who wants to work on a modern, globally used mobile platform?
We’re looking for Mobile Engineers at both Mid and Senior level to join a growing Digital & Technology team in Cape Town, working on the development of a major consumer-facing mobile application used across multiple international markets.
The organisation is undergoing a significant technology transformation, bringing its mobile products and services together into a single global engineering function and unified codebase.
A major part of that journey is Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP), allowing engineering teams to share functionality across Android and iOS while still delivering high-quality native experiences.
You’ll work within a cross-functional Product and Engineering team alongside other Mobile Engineers, Product Managers, Designers, QA and backend engineers.
Your responsibilities will include:
You'll also have the opportunity to:
We're interested in speaking with experienced mobile engineers with:
Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP/KMM) would be particularly valuable.
However, if you're an accomplished Kotlin/Android engineer who has strong modern mobile engineering fundamentals and is interested in moving further into Kotlin Multiplatform development, we'd still be interested in speaking with you.
For the Senior Engineer opportunity, we're particularly interested in engineers who have owned complex features from technical design through to production and have contributed to architecture, engineering standards and the development of other engineers.
Why consider it?
This is an opportunity to join a business investing significantly in its digital products and engineering capability.
Rather than maintaining separate applications market-by-market, you'll be helping build a globally scalable mobile platform, with a modern Kotlin Multiplatform approach and the opportunity to influence how the platform develops.
If you're a Kotlin/Android engineer looking for your next challenge — particularly if you're interested in Kotlin Multiplatform and cross-platform mobile engineering — we'd love to hear from you.
