Job summary

ShopriteX is seeking a Test Analyst I to translate business and technical requirements into test scenarios, prepare prerequisites, and execute tests to ensure quality standards are met. You will log defects, support retesting, and escalate non-routine issues within an Agile delivery environment.

The role requires a Degree or Diploma in IT (or related field) and 0–1 years' testing experience, with exposure to SQL, API testing, and manual testing practices.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in information technology or a related field.
• ISTQB Foundation Level or equivalent is desirable.
• 0–1 year of experience in software testing or a similar role.
• Hands-on experience with manual testing, SQL and Agile delivery environments.
• Knowledge of functional, system, integration and regression testing methods.

Role Purpose

The Test Analyst I performs defined testing activities to verify that business and technology solutions meet approved requirements and operate within agreed quality standards. The role translates functional and business requirements into test scenarios and cases, prepares test prerequisites, executes and records functional and non-functional tests, logs defects and supports retesting and closure. The role works within established testing methods and escalates non-routine issues to senior testing resources.

Role Description

Test planning and case design

• Review approved business and functional requirements to identify test conditions for assigned changes.

• Prepare clear test scenarios, test cases, prerequisites, criteria and expected results using approved templates and standards.

• Confirm test coverage and obtain review or sign-off from the Test Lead, Senior Test Analyst or Test Manager.

Test preparation

• Identify and obtain required test data, access, environments and supporting documentation.

• Confirm that the test environment is ready and record constraints, dependencies or access issues.

• Prepare test-result packs and traceability evidence for execution and sign-off.

Test execution and defect management

• Execute assigned functional, non-functional, integration, regression and end-to-end tests in accordance with approved test cases.

• Compare actual results with expected results, record pass or fail status and retain complete evidence.

• Log, classify and communicate defects with sufficient detail to support investigation and resolution.

• Retest fixes, update defect status and **escalate** unresolved or high-risk issues.

Quality, reporting and closure

• Maintain accurate test documentation and status information for assigned low-to-medium complexity work.

• Provide estimates and progress updates and highlight risks or delays to the Test Lead or Test Manager.

• Confirm completion of assigned tests, archive test work products and support handover and retrospective activities.

• Contribute practical ideas to improve test documentation, repeatability and efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or Diploma in Information Technology or a related field (essential).

• Formal software testing training, for example ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level or equivalent (desired).

• 0-1 years experience in software testing, application testing or a similar role (essential).

• Practical experience in manual testing, SQL and Agile delivery environments (essential).

• Working knowledge of functional, system, integration and regression testing methods (essential).

• Exposure to API testing, automated testing tools, performance testing or user acceptance testing (desired).
