Junior Technical Support & Field Technician – Durbanville, Cape Town.
This is a practical position combining fieldwork with first-line technical support. You will assist residential and business customers remotely and travel to customer sites for FTTH, Wi‑Fi and basic networking work.
You do not need to know everything on day one. We are looking for the right attitude, practical ability and willingness to learn. Structured training will be provided during your first three months.
R15,000 – R18,000
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend residential and business customer call‑outs
- Install and replace Wi‑Fi routers and related equipment
- Troubleshoot fibre, internet and Wi‑Fi connectivity
- Perform first‑line remote technical support
- Configure customer routers and basic network equipment
- Collect and deliver equipment when required
- Assist with Wi‑Fi and network installations
- Set up devices for routine network monitoring
- Liaise with fibre network operators and contractors
- Keep customers updated clearly and professionally
- Record completed work and maintain accurate job notes
- Escalate complex technical problems when necessary
Essential requirements:
- A valid South African driver’s licence
- Reliable personal transport
- Basic knowledge of internet connections, routers and Wi‑Fi
- Comfortable working with computers and mobile applications
- Clear spoken and written communication
- Friendly and patient when assisting customers
- Willingness to travel between customer sites
- Residence within a 10km radius of Durbanville
Advantageous experience:
- Previous ISP, MSP, IT support, cabling, fibre or networking experience will be advantageous, but attitude and aptitude are more important than formal qualifications.
- Knowledge of MikroTik, UniFi, TP‑Link, Reyee or similar networking equipment would also be beneficial.
