Job summary

JenRecruitment PTY Ltd seeks a Junior Electrical Engineer to join a renewable energy focused consultancy delivering solar PV and storage projects across South Africa. The role blends monitoring, data analysis, fault finding, electrical design and project support, offering a pathway to develop under a Professional Engineer.

Initial duties focus on monitoring and performance, with ownership growing over time.

Qualifications

• B.Eng or B.Sc (Eng) degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 0 to 3 years' relevant experience; Engineers with 3 to 5 years' relevant experience are welcome to apply.
• Final-year students completing their degree before the start date may be considered.
• Ability to manage your own workload and divide time between monitoring and project work.
• Candidates must be based in Durbanville or willing to commute.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse the performance of operational solar PV sites.
• Analyse system alerts and investigate plant performance issues.
• Assign, dispatch and track work orders through to completion.
• Perform energy yield and data analysis.
• Assist with electrical concept and detailed designs.
• Conduct fault analysis and identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Support commissioning, inspections and technical fault finding.
• Develop AI-assisted monitoring, reporting and dashboard processes.
• Prepare monthly site performance reports.
• Work with asset owners and external maintenance/SLA partners.
• Support the engineering team with technical and design projects.

Job description

An exciting opportunity is available for a Junior Engineer to join a specialised engineering consultancy working on solar PV and battery energy storage projects across South Africa.

The role offers a combination of monitoring, data analysis, fault finding, electrical design and technical project support, with the opportunity to develop your engineering career within the renewable energy sector.

The successful candidate will initially support the monitoring and performance function and, as the systems develop, take increasing ownership of the monitoring office while assisting the Professional Engineer with design and technical work.

Key Responsibilities

Advantageous Experience

• Experience using AI tools within engineering or analytical work
