Job summary

RMB is seeking a Data Scientist I to join the Johannesburg team. The role involves building, optimising and implementing quantitative analytical methodologies and models to support business strategy and decision-making.

You will work with SAS, SQL and Python to prepare data, perform basic modeling and automate tasks while communicating insights to non-technical stakeholders. You will collaborate with senior data scientists and risk/technology teams, contribute to governance and documentation,

Qualifications

• Honours degree in a STEM or related field.
• 1–2 years hands-on data analysis, modeling or analytics experience.
• Working knowledge of SAS, SQL and Python.

Responsibilities

• Support senior data scientists in end-to-end model development and governance for analytics.
• Assist with analytical problem-solving and data exploration to identify trends and risks.
• Translate technical analyses into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to documentation for models and processes and collaborate across business, risk and tech teams.
