Job summary

FirstRand Bank India is seeking a Data Scientist II to design and implement quantitative analytical models for financial crime analytics, including AML/CFT and sanctions screening. You will translate complex insights for business stakeholders and ensure governance across models and processes.

You will work with risk, technology and business teams, mentor junior data scientists, and contribute to governance and documentation in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Honours degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, actuarial science, engineering or related field.
• 2+ years hands-on experience developing and implementing analytical models.
• Strong SAS, SQL and Python scripting skills.
• Experience collaborating across multiple teams; financial crime experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver on model development, implementation, and governance for financial crime analytics.
• Identify analytical opportunities and solve unstructured problems with minimal guidance.
• Translate technical solutions into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Produce clear technical documentation for models and processes.
• Collaborate with risk, business and technology teams to drive model effectiveness and compliance.
• Support junior Data Scientists in developing technical and business skills.
