Job summary

Clydesdale Personnel Management (Afropulse 89 (Pty) Ltd) is seeking a Junior Customs Clerk in Durban to support the Customs Department with declarations, documentation, and data capture. The role involves ensuring SARS compliance, bonded cargo processes, and timely entry processing under supervision.

You will handle data capture from invoices and packing lists, maintain records, and assist senior staff during peak periods, contributing to efficient freight forwarding operations.

Qualifications

• Grade 12/ Matric is required; an industry-relevant qualification is an advantage.
• Experience in customs, clearing & forwarding, logistics, or freight administration is advantageous.
• Basic understanding of SARS requirements and customs procedures.

Responsibilities

• Capture customs declarations accurately and timeously on the company system.
• Assist with preparation and processing of import and export entries.
• Assist with bonded cargo processing and related documentation.
• Prepare and capture SARS bond-related documentation.
• Verify tariff codes, values, quantities, and origin on declarations under supervision.
• Assist with amendments, cancellations, and corrections to entries.
• Capture information from invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and related docs.
• Follow SARS/ SOPs and ensure timely declarations.
• Maintain records and assist with reporting and admin tasks.
• Provide support to senior staff during busy periods.
