Key Responsibilities

• Assisting senior attorneys in the preparation of pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
• Conducting legal research on complex commercial law issues.
• Gathering and analyzing evidence, including interviewing witnesses and reviewing documents.
• Managing discovery processes, including document review and interrogatory responses.
• Attending court hearings, mediations, and pre-trial conferences.
• Drafting correspondence and legal opinions under supervision.
• Maintaining accurate case files and client records.
• Liaising with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials.
• Contributing to case strategy discussions and development.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with less than 5 years post-qualification experience in litigation.
• A strong academic record with a demonstrated interest in commercial law.
• Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and litigation support software.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Admission to the Bar is not required but a willingness to develop advocacy skills is essential.
