Placements24 is seeking a proactive Junior Buyer to join our procurement team in Welkom, Free State. This entry-level role focuses on sourcing manufacturing consumables and indirect items, learning processes from senior buyers, and contributing to efficient supply chains in a fast-paced environment.

You'll develop hands-on experience in purchasing, maintain supplier relationships, and support the team with admin tasks while adhering to company policies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist senior buyers in sourcing quotes from suppliers and processing purchase orders.
• Maintain filing system for POs, invoices, and supplier correspondence.
• Track order status and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
• Coordinate with internal departments to clarify requirements and resolve discrepancies.
• Learn procurement policies and procedures and support ad-hoc admin tasks.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Buyer to join their procurement team in Welkom, Free State . This entry-level position is ideal for an individual eager to launch a career in purchasing, with a focus on acquiring manufacturing supplies and indirect materials. The successful candidate will work closely with senior buyers, learn procurement processes, and contribute to maintaining efficient supply chains. Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior buyers in sourcing and obtaining quotes from suppliers for manufacturing consumables and indirect items.
• Process purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders under supervision.
• Maintain an organized filing system for purchase orders, invoices, and supplier correspondence.
• Track the status of orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
• Communicate with internal departments to clarify order requirements and resolve discrepancies.
• Conduct basic research on potential new suppliers.
• Assist in maintaining supplier databases and ensuring contact information is up-to-date.
• Learn and apply company procurement policies and procedures.
• Support the procurement team in ad-hoc administrative tasks as required.

Requirements

A recent graduate with a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Good communication and interpersonal skills. A keen interest in procurement and supply chain management. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new processes. Proactive attitude and a willingness to take on new responsibilities. Familiarity with the Free State industrial context is a plus. Must be eligible to work in South Africa.
