Qualifications

• National Diploma or Certificate in SCM, Agriculture or Business Admin preferred.
• Up to 2 years in purchasing/procurement/admin, preferably in agriculture.
• Basic understanding of procurement processes and principles.
• Strong organization and attention to detail, good communication.
• Proficiency in MS Office and willingness to learn procurement.

About the Role

Our client, a significant player in the agricultural sector, is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Buyer to join their team in Upington, Northern Cape . This role is designed for an individual looking to build a career in procurement, focusing on the acquisition of essential agricultural supplies, equipment, and services. The Junior Buyer will work under the guidance of the senior procurement team, learning and contributing to the purchasing process. This is an on-site position at our Upington facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to learn, excellent organizational skills, and a methodical approach to tasks. You will play a key role in supporting the procurement function and ensuring the timely availability of resources critical to our agricultural operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the processing of purchase requisitions and the creation of purchase orders.
• Source suppliers for various agricultural inputs and equipment based on defined requirements.
• Obtain quotations from suppliers and assist in comparing prices and terms.
• Follow up with suppliers on order status and delivery dates.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information.
• Support the procurement team in conducting market research for agricultural commodities.
• Assist in ensuring that purchased goods meet specified quality standards.
• Communicate effectively with internal departments regarding procurement needs.

Requirements

• A National Diploma or Certificate in Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Up to 2 years of experience in a purchasing, procurement, or administrative role, preferably within the agricultural sector.

• Good organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
• Strong desire to learn and develop skills in procurement.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Upington, Northern Cape for an on-site role.
