Job summary

Freerecruit in the Tygerberg/Parow area of Cape Town is seeking a SAIPA or CIMA junior accountant to join its in-house finance team. This role goes beyond data entry, offering exposure to asset finance, loan accounting and financial controls.

The successful candidate will have completed or be completing the SAIPA/CIMA training in 2026 and hold a relevant BCom accounting degree with hands-on experience in reconciliations, VAT and general ledger work. Excellent Excel skills are valued.

Qualifications

• Completed SAIPA or CIMA training or finishing in 2026.
• Finance degree (BCom or equivalent) with accounting focus.
• Hands-on exposure to bank reconciliations, debtors, creditors, journals, VAT and month-end.

Responsibilities

• Month-end accounting and reconciliations.
• Management accounts support and reporting schedules.
• Debtors, creditors and general ledger accounting.
• Banking, payments and debit-order processes.
• Loan and asset finance transactions.
• Settlement calculations and administration.
• VAT calculations and reconciliations.
• Journals, accruals and month-end adjustments.
• Audit support and financial controls.
• Identify discrepancies and investigate why numbers don’t add up.
• Improve and automate finance processes as you grow into the role.
