Introduction
An exciting opportunity is available for a technically competent, hands-on and service-oriented In-House IT Technician to provide reliable day-to-day IT support across an established organisation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, security and support of the organisation's IT infrastructure, hardware, software, databases, networks, user accounts and mobile devices, while serving as the internal point of contact for IT-related matters.
Practical hands-on experience with Zoho applications and the Zoho ecosystem is a mandatory requirement for this position.
Duties & Responsibilities
Zoho Systems Administration – Mandatory
- Provide day-to-day administration and technical support across the organisation's Zoho platforms, including relevant Zoho One applications.
- Manage user profiles, roles, permissions, access rights and account configurations.
- Manage system access during employee onboarding and offboarding.
- Troubleshoot Zoho user, workflow, application and integration issues.
- Maintain data accuracy and system integrity.
- Support reports, dashboards, forms, workflows, data imports/exports and system integrations.
- Provide user guidance and liaise with Zoho support or external service providers when required.
Mobile Device Management (MDM) – Mandatory
- Administer, enrol, configure and manage company-issued smartphones, tablets and other supported devices.
- Conduct daily monitoring of managed devices, including compliance, security alerts, operating-system updates, device health and online/offline status.
- Identify and escalation inactive, non-compliant, compromised, lost or stolen devices.
- Apply approved security policies, password controls, screen-lock requirements, application controls and device restrictions.
- Remotely deploy and update approved applications.
- Troubleshoot device enrolment, synchronisation and access issues.
- Where authorised, lock, locate, restrict or remotely wipe devices.
- Maintain accurate MDM records, including assigned users, device details and status.
Hardware, Software & End-User Support
- Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, scanners and other IT equipment.
- Diagnose hardware faults and coordinate repairs or replacements.
- Configure new equipment for employees.
- Install, update and support approved software.
- Provide support across Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 environments.
- Respond to and resolve hardware, software, email, access and system-related support requests.
- Maintain IT support records and escalation complex issues where necessary.
Network, Database & Connectivity Support
- Support company databases and information systems.
- Assist with user permissions, data access, imports/exports, data integrity and backups.
- Provide first-line support for LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi and internet connectivity.
- Troubleshoot connectivity problems and liaise with service providers regarding outages.
- Assist with routers, switches, wireless access points, VPN/remote access and secure network connectivity.
Cybersecurity, Backups & Data Protection
- Install, configure, maintain and monitor antivirus and endpoint-protection software.
- Ensure endpoint protection remains active, updated and compliant.
- Monitor and report suspicious activity, malware, unauthorised access and potential data breaches.
- Support password security, multi-factor authentication and phishing-prevention initiatives.
- Monitor critical backups and verify successful completion.
- Assist with data restoration, disaster recovery and business continuity.
- Support information security and POPIA/data protection requirements.
IT Assets, Email & Cloud Administration
- Maintain an accurate IT asset register covering hardware, software, licences, subscriptions, warranties and assigned users.
- Track the allocation, movement, return, replacement and disposal of IT equipment.
- Administer and troubleshoot company email, shared mailboxes, cloud storage, file-sharing and communication platforms.
- Liaise with approved IT suppliers and service providers where required.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Relevant qualification in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Network/Systems Administration, IT Support or a related recognised field.
- Minimum 3–5 years' practical IT support/technician experience.
- Demonstrable hands-on Zoho administration experience – essential.
- Practical Mobile Device Management (MDM) experience, including enrolment, configuration, monitoring, security and remote device administration.
- Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365.
- Database support and network/internet troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with backups, data recovery, cybersecurity and endpoint protection.
- Experience managing IT assets, licences and user access.
- Strong direct end-user technical support experience.
Please note: Candidates without practical, hands-on Zoho administration experience will not be considered.
